Neal Lewis Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Is anybody familiar with the brand of this low voltage switching system? The house was vacant & I couldn't locate the relay box. Nowhere to be found in the entire house, attic, etc! No typical switching noises when the rocker switches were operated, either. Very strange. Download Attachment: Low Voltage Switches.jpg 29.01 KB
Marc Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 I've seen only one such system in 7 years. The transformers were scattered about the attic floor. Maybe someone else has more experience with this than I. Marc
Bill Kibbel Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 They look like 1950s Remcon switches. There's no single "relay box" because Remcon had a mini transformer built into every relay. This system usually has a relay located in each box of each separate fixture being controlled.
Neal Lewis Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Bill, wouldn't I hear the relay make some noise? This was totally silent. I guess I've seen never this type of system without a relay box before. Thanks
Nolan Kienitz Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Residential property I inspected in 3Q09 had an extensive low-voltage lighting control system installed. Prior owners had many rooms set up as an 'art gallery' to highlight all their items. Current owners were two attorneys in an extremely nasty divorce. Property had been vacant for ~ one year. Low-voltage control system had a substantial panel on one wall in a Utility closet with two SEPs, Water Heater and was a conditioned room to help handle heat generation. The control system is no longer made and trying to find a local company to maintain was an adventure. Bill Kibbel Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Bill, wouldn't I hear the relay make some noise? Hmmm, I've never noticed any noise.
