sepefrio Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I think that job would be AWESOME! I'm not sure I could take that step offthe chopper onto the lines, but otherwise, lol!
gtblum Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 How the hell do you save this guy if he falls? You have about eight minutes to get him before the harness constricts blood flow, and suspension trauma sets in. It can kill you quick.
Jim Katen Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 We've discussed this video before. I remain more impressed by the helicopter pilot's ability than by the high wire guy. What sort of maintenance, exactly, do you suppose these guys do? - Jim Katen, Oregon
sepefrio Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 I saw a video like this on the science channel or such and they were replacing (at least in that video) the piece that prevents the lines from touching each other in high winds. And I agree about the helo pilot. Awesome skill.

Some of those harnesses have a foot loop on a short length of strap you can drop to support yourself in a standing position, taking much of the weight off the rest of the harness. http://www.millerfallprotection.com/fal ... ety-device
