Robert Jones Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 This was a prime example of poor ventilation placement. There is mold growth just below where these vents actually breathe. No soffit vents. Click to Enlarge 70.32 KB Click to Enlarge 51.9 KB
Brandon Whitmore Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 The sad thing is that there's probably a code compliant amount of ventilation provided.
Tom Raymond Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 The plastic skylights didn't give you pause to consider the quality craftsmanship there? No one that cheap is gonna get the vents right. Tom
Robert Jones Posted April 21, 2010 Author Report Posted April 21, 2010 That is funny. And yes, I was a bit surprised that they didn't address those when the roof was replaced.
msteger Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 That would have looked a lot nicer cosmetically and worked better functionally if they had just installed the proper ridge vent and soffit vents when they replaced the roof.
SamNorwich Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 You think builders used to cut corners, well the last two years of a sucky economy hasn't helped one bit. I have seen everything from 'homemade' vents to no vents at all. This job is getting harder every day and the more I report the more friends I 'make' [] Sam N Indianapolis Real Estate
thomop Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 That sounds like a very unhealthy roof space!!![]

Sam, are you a real estate agent and a home inspector?
Robert Jones Posted April 23, 2010 Author Report Posted April 23, 2010 The link does go directly to a real estate office doesn't it.
