Jaykline Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 I found this surprise during an inspection yesterday. Top portion of a propane fueled water heater. Bottom portion looked ok. House had just been re-roofed - new flashing for everything including this. I guess the roofers didn't have the time or the desire to point it out. House is 30+ years old. WH is 12. hausdok Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 Well, For, those new to the biz, that's a great illustration of one of the reasons why one is prohibited from using a single-walled vent in unconditioned space. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Jack Ahern Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 For the new guys--you need to get up in the attic and walk around (if safety permits). You need adequate light, proper training, enough time to fully inspect the attic area, and the confidence to red flag it. Missing something like that, will cost some one their health or a life. That exhaust will find its way into the living space. The owners will never know what hit them [:-banghea Jack Ahern Needham on the Charles
Bruce Thomas Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 I hate to keep harping on attic fires but here is another one waiting to happen. Bruce
Brian G Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 That's the kind of thing we have to catch. Genuinely serious, plainly visible, yet others have ignored it or not gone far enough to see it. Nice job Jay. Brian G. Extra Miles Bring Client Smiles [:-angel]
