hausdok Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Not the way it's done. You can use a special alloy clamp that's approved for aluminum or copper and won't react to either and then clamp the aluminum into the clamp but what they've done there is just......lame. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Bryan Posted March 15, 2010 Author Report Posted March 15, 2010 Thanks Mike. That is some what what I was thinking; however, just wanted to make sure.
Jim Katen Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I believe this is wrong; however, I can not find a reference for it. Can Copper and aluminum be mixed like this? No. The conductor is supposed to run through the hole meant for it and be secured by the lug. It isn't supposed to be squished between the clamp and the copper tube. The installer was lazy. - Jim Katen, Oregon
