Hot water booster?

Is this some kind of pressure booster/regulator? This is mounted close to the natural gas hot water tank. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, That makes sense. Never seen one here in OKLA. That explains the pretty much instant hot water in the house. They look fairly simple to install, and I would think cost effective. What drives the pump?

Electricity that comes to it via the little grey cord.

I tell people to put these things on timers. No one needs to have their hot water flying in circles around the house 24/7.

little grey cord. Yeah, I see it now. what is involved in adding a timer and the costs generally?

If its just a standard timer, you can buy them from Lowe's or Locke's for relatively cheap. Under 50 bucks?

The supply plumbing has to create a loop for it to work. (Fixtures in parallel)

That particular pump is for heating. Potable water requires a bronze volute.
