Robert Jones Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Did you have to place all of those nails? Cool pic.
Mike Lamb Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 Did you have to place all of those nails? Yes, I did but I didn't do it for a photo. I'll give a buck if anyone can guess what this is a photo of. Hint: I'm remodeling a bathroom.
AHI in AR Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I don't know what it is, but you should consider making prints available. Or at least digital copies. I find it cool. OK...Here's a guess. Did you use the nails as some sort of grade stakes to float out a shower floor?
Richard Moore Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I'm guessing he had boards balanced on top of the nails as a work platform while he poured the self-levelling compound.

John Kogel Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 You're weaving a macrame shower curtain? [] Towel racks for silverfish? []
asihi Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Judging by how the nails seem to be in a square pattern, my guess would be some sort of game where you toss a ball and try to get it in one of the squares.... That or some sort of torture device
Tom Raymond Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 ...some sort of grade stakes to float out a shower floor? That would totally suck, not to mention be very inaccurate. I think he should go back and straighten all the nails that aren't plumb.[:-monkeyd Tom
resqman Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I am betting they are markers for where the different colored mosaic tiles go. You know the old style tiles about the size of a coin. The nails mark the black tiles and the rest is the white infill.
Chad Fabry Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Whatever the nails are for, there has to be a better, easier way.
barlyhop Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Depth gauge for floating mud under new tile floor?

Tom Raymond Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Yeah but handy guys usually have a box of nails laying around, and frugal (read tight wad) handy guys reuse them. [:-dev3] Tom Tile spacers never seem to make it onto my shopping list either.

Richard Moore Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Kind of plain-Jane tiles! You might want to leave the nails for the decorative effect. []
Mike Lamb Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 Lines up the corners, creates uniform joints and they're re-usable. sliced bread I have those things somewhere but these are wall tiles and I had to start from the top and work down. This is a public washroom in a medical building. An architect drew details for everything. The adhesive advertised "no sag", but, um, the tiles sagged. Nails!
