There's no handy dandy date decoder for Thermopride serial numbers. You have to call them to get the actual date. (Phone: 574-896-2133)

I typically don't bother. Oil furnaces can last almost indefinitely with regular service and the occasional part. As long as the thing has been serviced regularly and recently, it's enough for me.

In your case I would just say the ANSI date indicates manufacture in the late 90's.

Yeah,

A Thermopride manufactured in the 1990's is like a Lexus manufactured in the 1990's; it's going to keep right on working really well for a very, very long time. I've looked at a Thermopride that was half a century old and it was in great shape. I don't think I've ever seen one that wasn't in great condition - even when they've been sadly neglected.

Showing your age???

Auto mechanic looked at me strangely? All I asked for was a "grease and oil job". I've stopped using "Ice Box".

My grand daughter asked me what is a "Phone Booth" ?

I miss the phone booths... there were so many cool ones in the old days...usually in old train stations or restaurants...
