Robert Jones Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 I cannot find any information on dating a Thermopride furnace. The ansi is 1995, so I am guessing year to be around that time frame. Anyone have any info on this company? Model #CHB-125N Serial #87437 V/R
Richard Moore Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 There's no handy dandy date decoder for Thermopride serial numbers. You have to call them to get the actual date. (Phone: 574-896-2133) I typically don't bother. Oil furnaces can last almost indefinitely with regular service and the occasional part. As long as the thing has been serviced regularly and recently, it's enough for me. In your case I would just say the ANSI date indicates manufacture in the late 90's.
hausdok Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Yeah, A Thermopride manufactured in the 1990's is like a Lexus manufactured in the 1990's; it's going to keep right on working really well for a very, very long time. I've looked at a Thermopride that was half a century old and it was in great shape. I don't think I've ever seen one that wasn't in great condition - even when they've been sadly neglected. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
waynesoper Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 By the way, call them anyway and ask them about the lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger.
Terence McCann Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 Can't say I've ever seen one in this neck of the woods - must be a regional thang.
Rob Amaral Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 I've looked at a ton of them around Boston. They are built like Sherman tanks.. (OK....Abrams tanks...!) Now that I think of it, the old phrase 'Built Like Sherman Tank' is I guess.. 'dead'.. !
Jack Ahern Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Showing your age??? Auto mechanic looked at me strangely? All I asked for was a "grease and oil job". I've stopped using "Ice Box". My grand daughter asked me what is a "Phone Booth" ? God I hate change! [:-banghea[:-banghea
Rob Amaral Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Jack.. I hear ye.. I miss the phone booths... there were so many cool ones in the old days...usually in old train stations or restaurants... Have an ice-cold New Years! (I think it was 5 today with the wind...)
