Neal Lewis Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Seems that I remember reading somewhere that the relief valve on a steam boiler should always be installed vertically and not horizonatally. I can't find anything to verify this. Download Attachment: Krongard 056.jpg 324.54 KB
Bill Kibbel Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 ASME, but it's not enforced for boilers that operate under 15psi and in buildings with less than 4 dwelling units. Some boiler manufacturers' instructions (including some circulating hot water boilers) require the "spindle" of the relief valve to be vertical. Manufacturers' installation instructions for SOME relief valves.
