blazenut Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Hey guys, this is the second time ive run into a high efficiency furnace that doesnt have its intake pipe (see pic) plumbed to the exterior of the home. Does this not allow the furnace to run as efficiently as possible? What would the concerns of having it installed this way? Any thoughts would help? Thanks in advanced. Click to Enlarge 37.99 KB
hausdok Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 There isn't any concern, as long as it's in an area with sufficient volume to allow that furnace to run properly and there isn't anything else in that area that's going to affect its performance. Just refer to the restrictions in the owner's manual; if none apply, there's no reason to write anything. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
blazenut Posted November 6, 2009 Author Report Posted November 6, 2009 One more thing... Is there any advantage to having it plumbed to the exterior of the home? (other than sucking indoor air polutants into the system?)
Bill Kibbel Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 One more thing... Is there any advantage to having it plumbed to the exterior of the home? (other than sucking indoor air polutants into the system?) Yes - not using conditioned air for combustion and not increasing the interior negative pressure (which can increase air infiltration).
