Scottpat Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I took this picture after an inspection today while sitting at a red light. I just could not help to think about those "Cash for Title" stores. Yes, it looks like even the Amish are having a hard time with the economy. kurt Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Wow. Great shot. Juxtapositions of time, place, and context that one doesn't usually see.
gtblum Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Imagine the look on someones face a few hours later in the day when they pull in that parking space, open the car door, and put their foot down into the middle of a pile of

Richard Moore Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Out of curiosity I checked out Advance America payday loans. It's 572.26% APR on their standard 14 day loan!!! That's the minimum APR (it's over 1000% APR if you pay it back in 8 days). Talk about preying on the vulnerable. I don't think Vinnie the Loan Shark charges that much. The Amish may be a little odd, but they're not stupid. I'm guessing they are shopping for buggy air fresheners in the Dollar store. Great photo tho!

In all seriousness, payday lenders are a real abomination. They've outlawed them here. As Richard said, they prey on the most vulnerable...making pawn shops look positively beneficent by comparison.

I had no idea those places charged that kind of interest. I'm pretty sure that it's against the law to charge more than 29.9% on anything here in Canada. -Brad
charlieb Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 It's the times. I saw a Benz delivering pizza in my hood this past weekend.
