Hello, I have a Conquest 90 gas furnace and it is not igniting. When we turn the heat on using the thermostat, the fan turns on and withing 15-60 seconds it just shuts off. I have tried turning the power to the furnace off and restarting and I have replaced the batteries in the thermostat, neither helped.

Any thoughts or assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

You're not trying to run it off a generator correct? Or any other then normal wiring method? (Very tempermental, Most furnaces will not work off of a generator unless the wire size is within a certain size and length range. Not 100% why, but what I was told by a HVAC guy

First use this year? You do have the gas turned on, don't you?

Which "fan", the circulation blower or the combustion/draft fan?

Not that that last question really matters. It could be a sensor (thermocouple), or a bad circuit board, or a burnt out ignitor, or something goofy, and it's unlikely anyone could diagnose it remotely. You need to call an HVAC tech.

See that clear port on the lower half? Behind that sight glass you'll be able to see an LED blinking a code at you to tell you what's wrong. Get out your manual, observe the code, look up what's wrong and then call your HVAC tech and tell him the brand and model of the furnace and what the code is telling you so he'll bring the correct parts out with him.

Thank you everyone for your help! I am not running it off a generator and yes, the gas is turned on. This is the first use of the year though. I looked behind that screen and there is just one green light and it is not blinking, it is solid. As for which "fan", I am unsure.

If anyone else has any thoughts I would love to hear them.

Thanks again everyone, I will call someone out.

Check the toggle on top of the gas valve to ensure that it's in the "on" position and then check to see if the exhaust vent is blocked by a birdnest or wasp nest. When it first comes on, you should hear either a snapping sound as the igniter lights a pilot or you should see an orange glow as the glow wand comes on and heats up. If the igniter isn't functioning, she'll never come on and will shut down.

Sounds like it's time to call the HVAC folks.
