On many pre-made inspection programs I have demo'd, there has been a spot for testing safety devices on furnace and A/C unit, what would this all consist of testing exactly? (Assuming its not a package unit, but a central heat and air with outside condensing unit)

On a gas furnace, the only safety device that you might test would be the blower door's interlock switch. While the furnace is running, remove the blower door. The unit should shut down. If it doesn't, either the switch is missing or it's been tampered with.

While there are other safety items on the average furnace, the only thing I'm looking @ would be the blower door interlock.

This will get me branded as a philistine, but to a large degree, the average Cat I furnace runs, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, it's usually the control module.

Okay, now folks can tell me all the things I should be checking.......

Sorry, don't check any safety devices - in for a dime in for a dollar; that's why God created HVAC tech's.

I do pay attention to boilers as most of the safety controls are purchased separately (or at least were when I was in the trades). Still don't test them but note their presence or lack thereof.

Welcome to the forums Matt, the uninterpretable! I'm Terence -the incomprehensible. There are many other knights of the round table before you.
