crusty Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 If you want to hear something even scarier it's the story about how the 18" off the floor rule came into the code. As I'm sure most have noticed gas fumes rise higher than 18" or you wouldn't smell them. 18" was decided on because a water heater can be universally that high without going through the ceiling in nearly all garages. There is no magic protection in the 18" elevation. With a high volume of fumes in an unventilated garage, it's going kaboom no matter how high it's raised. Check those garage vents.
Norm Posted September 30, 2004 Author Report Posted September 30, 2004 Not to worry Mike. I would never do anything that stupid. I store the gas for my generator in my mother-in-laws garage. NORM SAGE
