A city councilman in Utah , Mark Easton, had a beautiful view of the east mountains until a new neighbor purchased the lot below his house and built a new home that was 18 inches higher than ordinances allow.

Easton, angry about the loss of his view, went to the city to make sure they enforced the lower roof line ordinance and his neighbor was forced to drop the roof line, at great expense.

Recently, Easton called the city to inform them that his new neighbor had installed some vents on the side of his home that Easton didn't like and he asked the city to investigate. When city representatives arrived at Easton's home to see what Easton was complaining about, this is what they found.

The City Council said the vents may remain since there aren't any ordinances referring to shutter design.
