Help determining AC unit info

Hi guys (and gals),

Not an inspector here, just need some information. I cannot find any information about my AC unit outside and I just want to make sure the tech isn't telling me a fib. []

The information plate has the following data:

Concord

Model # RC10A36A-1B

Serial #8497E23237

I need to know the age of the unit and what size it is. Tech says it's about 20 years old and is a 2.5 ton (I have no clue what that means LOL). Any help is greatly appreciated!

It's a 3 ton unit, probably manufactured in 1997.
