Age of York Systems

I seem to be having problems obtaining acurate date of manufature for york products (furnaces and compressors). The decoder that i got from this site doesnt make sense to me, unless its not for furnaces and compressors. According to the decoder that i have an AC compressor with the serial number of WOK8349243 is a 2001 (cause the third letter of the number is K which ='s 2001). My issue is this: This was a brand new unit in a new house, so i must have a bad decoder. Does anyone know what the decoder is for York, i would call myself now but it is Saturday. Thanks.

Mabey a unit that was stored in a contractors attic for 8 years. I get the same date 2001

When did York stop printing the date of manufacture on the bottom corner of the sticker? For example, manufactured July of 2006 is printed "MFD 0706".
