exploreparadise2 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 This annoys me every time I run into it. Treated or not, the wood will eventually rot, and it's a pathway for insects. I'm interested in knowing why a builder leaves 2X4s on the inside of forms. Click to Enlarge 60.97 KB Click to Enlarge 55.65 KB
gtblum Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 It looks like it was intentional like a block out to be used later. Why else would you have wood on the inside of a form?
Erik Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Used to hold the siding on. Grade should be bellow two by fours. Nail boards
hausdok Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Exactly, It enables the siding guy to install siding down the side of the foundation closer to the ground for esthetics. When it's covered and separated from the ground, it will remain toxic for a long, long time. When exposed to the weather or left to constantly wick moisture from the soil it last about 15 years or so around here. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
