blazenut Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I inspected a house today with a federal pacific fuse panel. Do their fuse panels share the same problems as their breaker panels? or other problems? Thanks for you help.
Terence McCann Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Federal Pacific or not I always recommend replacing fuse panels. Too easy to over fuse with the old Edison base style fuses (not to mention that their old and everything deserves retirement - even me).
kurt Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 I still think there's nothing inherently wrong with a fuse panel if it's equipped with Type S adapters, and there's a satisfactory number of circuits available for the house and it's equipment. Fuses work. They don't malfunction. But, most houses need more circuits than the old fuse panels supplied; my usual call is to tell folks to replace it, but not because of the single fact of fuses. It's usually a combination of factors. On point, I'm not aware of anything wrong with Federal fuse boxes. The problems are related to the Stablok bus, and the breakers that the company lied about in their testing.
