John Dirks Jr Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Anyone have some good CSST documents they can share? Something along the lines of proper installation as well as inspection techniques.
Brandon Whitmore Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I usually just go to the source-- manufacturers installation instructions rule.
kurt Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 http://www.gastite.com/page.php?pg=tech ... link=link6 Go to the Design and Installation menu, and download the Updated manual.
John Dirks Jr Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 http://www.gastite.com/page.php?pg=tech ... link=link6 Go to the Design and Installation menu, and download the Updated manual. Now that's a fair amount of reading there. 102 pages of it. Well, I asked for it.
kurt Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 You should skim all of it, but the only part you'll likely need is parts of section 4, and mostly sections 5.2 and 5.3. There's sizing charts if you need them. I've never seen that complicated a system where I felt I needed to check sizes. Residential gas stuff is pretty basic by now.
John Dirks Jr Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Thanks for narrowing it down Kurt. I'll home in on those sections.

The only time I've felt the need to check sizing is when an on-demand water heater is present. Then, every time I've checked them, the sizing was wrong -- always too small. - Jim Katen, Oregon

It seems like folks buy these expecting to save a lot of money. Then when they realize that their savings will essentially be nothing, because they'll need a larger flue than the old water heater and will need to do some demo and building to make the new flue work, they blow off the flue size requirement. Someday, an orange apron guy somewhere is going to get a family killed and then maybe folks buying these things will start to pay attention. Sorry about the drift - back to CSST. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
