Water Heater on "Vacation"?

Okay, just what in the heck does it mean when a gas water heater is set on "vacation"? Is it on, or not? Or will it only drink beer and yell at the little water heaters for disturbing it? [:-gnasher]

Yeah, it's on - barely.

Turning water heaters all of the way off can allow bacteria to grow inside of them. For this reason manufacturers have provided a vacation setting. It really no different than "low."
