google crawlers and PDF's

Do the google crawler spiders visit links of PDF's that are posted at your site and if they do, do they look at the content of the PDF's?

Yes, and they get indexed into the engine as separate links also.

As Mike said PDF's get indexed, but only if there's a link to them that's publicly visible on your site. I point this out as I've had people concerned that reports they posted on their site would be found. If you only email a link to a client of a page you've uploaded a report to, that page will never be indexed as there's no way to get from your home page to that site. So that report is safe from being indexed.
