Robert Jones Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Installed is a Lennox electric furnace. After reading the HVAC cheat sheet, the date is not obvious to me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Click to Enlarge 39.9 KB Click to Enlarge 42.52 KB
hausdok Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Aargh! Electric furnace! That's a whole different ballgame. I have no idea how to interpret those. What was the date on that orange permit taped to it? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Robert Jones Posted June 6, 2009 Author Report Posted June 6, 2009 The date on the orange heating and gas permit was 1999. But to be honest, it looked altered. The unit looks more like 79-89 than 99. See new pic. Thanks. Click to Enlarge 37.81 KB
Jim Katen Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Sorry, no idea. Serial Number: 58 You gotta love it. Maybe it's the 58th unit they made that year. If you can wait till Monday, Lennox's number is 800 453-6669. The good news is that electric furnaces are all pretty much the same from brand to brand and from year to year. A 40-year old electric furnace is just as efficient, just as reliable, and just as easy to fix as a new one. If you're writing the report, why not just write, "The permit on the furnace is dated 1999. I don't know if that's an accurate date."? Then offer to get back to him on Monday. - Jim Katen, Oregon
Brandon Whitmore Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Man, When I read the title, I thought you were talkin' bout something else. [:-slaphap
Robert Jones Posted June 6, 2009 Author Report Posted June 6, 2009 Thanks Jim, I will do that And Brandon, your sick mind made you look! I love your way of thinking;)
hausdok Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Hi, I'd go with the permit. They'd used mastic to seal the seams; when was the last time you saw a furnace from 79 - 89 where they'd used mastic and were so careful to insulate the ducts? OT - OF!!! M.
