John Dirks Jr Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 I had a Bryant panel the other day. It is a first for me. Are the bus bars arranged different than usual on this type? The reason I ask is a bridge for a 240v circuit jumped over breakers to tie together with its other leg. There was a missing bridge on one side, a double tapped breaker, and neutrals sharing terminals. I'm sure you might be able to find other things wrong too. Here are some pictures. John Dirks Jr Posted May 14, 2009 Author Report Posted May 14, 2009 Wait. I just realized, could it be the piggy back breakers that threw me off? That would explain why the bridge needed to jump over? Maybe?
Neal Lewis Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 John, it's just a space saving quad breaker. The two poles of the breaker need to grab different busbars.

The sticker going across the entire 4 shows that it's just one piece. I hadn't realized that. I thought it was a pair of piggy backs. But then I wondered why the piggy backs would utilize two different amp ratings, I.E. green and grey. It's a quad. Now it all makes sense. Live and learn...and learn..... and.....learn....
