Robert Jones Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 While I have had the opportunity to inspect quite a few roofs with this product installed, I am curious to know what others would say. The roof is 14 years old and obviously showing signs of fissures and crazing. Has anyone had a client that successfully filed a claim with Pabco? Just curious. For anyone not familiar with them, here are a few pics. http://www.ho25settlement.com/ Click to Enlarge 116.82 KB Click to Enlarge 138.82 KB Click to Enlarge 110.4 KB
Richard Moore Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 I've reported them a few times, but I can't say I know what the final outcome was in any of the cases. This is what I put the last time I found them... INVESTIGATE FURTHER and REPAIR: Many of the asphalt roof shingles are exhibiting random cracks. After review of the photos, it is evident that the current roof shingles have all the characteristics of Pabco HO-25 or HZ-25 shingles. There is a class action settlement ( see http://www.ho25settlement.com/index.php3 ) regarding these shingles. The lawsuit, which the settlement resolves, claimed that PABCO HO-25 and HZ-25 Roof Shingles installed and incorporated on structures are defective and will exhibit fissures or crazing (surface cracking in random directions), or otherwise deteriorate or fail, and may cause leaks and/or property damage to roofs and structures. The affected shingles were sold between 1984 and 1997. I suspect this homes shingles fall into that date period. Certainly, this homes shingles are displaying the ââ¬Åcrazingââ¬
Robert Jones Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 Thanks Richard. I worded something similar to that in my report. I would guess that the amount of payout would be fairly limited due to the age. Much like LP when their class action lawsuit was in play. Thanks again.
