Flooring guys have to hook up their 240 volt sanders directly to the panel box. I've seen them do some unsafe things, but the setup in the pic is a first. It seems that pulling out breakers and attaching the alligator clips directly to the busbar would be better- anything would be safer than this.

Coincidentally, I just attended a CEU class on electrical safety the other night...Got the face shield on order.[;)]

Leaving the stack of cans next to a set up like that might qualify them for a Darwin award.

Normally you just clip right to the main lugs or exposed hot bus. This panel apparently was a little crowded for that. I'll admit I've jumped a welder or two off the main lugs of a few panels with alligator clips but that's a little on the shaky side.

I hope there are no kids or even adults nearby. Just touching the screwdriver could kill someone.

This sander must pull quite a bit of current judging by the arc damage on the screwdriver.

I wonder if they turn both of the breakers off before making connections. One breaker looks like the main breaker for the panel. What about back feed. Take one screwdriver out and it is probably still energized.

Unbelievable!
