gtblum Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 In Evanston, they're found mostly in half-pint bottles. That's about right....... I think there's population blooms of lots of animals due to crows being eliminated by West Nile virus. Rabbits, squirrles, turkeys, more birds, all due to crows (predators) being scrubbed. Predators of eggs maybe. Definitely not raptors. If you see a crow eating a squirrel, turkey, or a rabbit, it's probably road kill or, leftovers from a fox or koyote kill. Animal populations are cyclical. The experts claim, 7 to 10 year peaks. Turkeys tend to not do well during years with very wet spring seasons. They have however, made a huge comeback since being re-populated in areas where they had been all but eradicated.
hausdok Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 You'd never know there is a crow population decline anywhere if you lived in Kenmore. Every evening at dusk Kenmore is a like a scene from The Birds. The crows begin arriving about a half hour before dusk and are everywhere; powerlines, rooftops, fences - hundreds of thousands of them. By the time it's dark they've all bunched together on the branches of trees and sound asleep. They are amazingly social animals. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Jim Katen Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Just think how Southern Redneck German would sound. How about "Ich bin ein Berliner, y'all." Of course, to differentiate Regular Southern German from Southern *Redneck* German, you'd have to say it while wearing lederhosen and a mullet. - Jim Katen, Oregon
