Robert Jones Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I am guessing that this water heater is dated to 1973. Any other ideas? I am not familiar with the brand. V/R Click to Enlarge 20.15 KB Click to Enlarge 31.97 KB
hausdok Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Hi, Briggs Manufacturing was a subsidiary Walters Corp and was bought by Celotex around 1972. That year or the next, Celotex was sued by a bunch of folks for asbestos exposure and around 1990 - 1992, depending which reference you look at, Briggs declared bankruptcy. So, by anyone's estimation, it's at least 17 years old. When I get one that old, I tell 'em that if they call me the next day to tell me the tank had failed since I'd left the home I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Robert Jones Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 Thanks Mike, I told them it was beyond the "recommended" life span and could fail at anytime. I also told them that it is old and well beyond the life expectancy and should be replaced. Thanks again for your response. V/R
