Scottpat Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Anyone ever see a hot water coil freeze due to the cooling coil upstream of the hot water coil freezing? What type of system are you talking about?
jfv Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 It was an air handler that included a cooling coil with a heating coil downstream of the cooling coil.

Your going to be hard pressed to get any answers to your question that way. Be a little more descriptive, maybe start at the beginning and we may be able to help you.
Terence McCann Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Anyone ever see a hot water coil freeze due to the cooling coil upstream of the hot water coil freezing? No. With out glycol (chilled water system) it's next to impossible to get 32 degree discharge air for any length of time (with any velocity). The conditions that would allow this to happen would manifest itself in a service call way before this type of event. In commercial systems you often see freeze t/stats that will shut the system down - manual reset as well (this is apparent with economizers). It is best to get a temperature/pressure chart for different Freon types. You'll be able to see how different pressures/temperatures react. Post here if you have any further questions - will help if I can.
jfv Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Posted April 1, 2009 Thanks for the reply. That's what I believe. Just wanted to confirm.
