Erby Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Spent Thursday afternoon listening to Dr. Joe talk about "Building Envelope ââ¬â How tight is too tight" & "Ventilating a Tight Home", Great stuff. Certainly has an interesting presentation style. I liked his take on the difference between physicists and engineers. http://www.joelstiburek.com/ I've read a bunch of his stuff and some of what y'all had to say about his thoughts on building science. Glad I took the time!
inspector57 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I agree. I attended one of Dr. Joes' classes at a CE seminar several years ago. A great communicator that makes a complex subject seem simple. I would encourage anyone that gets a chance to hear him to make the time.
davidlord Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Yea I sat in one one of his seminars at some conference somewhere a year or so ago. He makes sense. It's like Dennis Miller talking about the building envelope.
Scottpat Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I kind of like take of Advanced Energy on closed and conditioned crawlspaces better than Dr Joe's. A little different take on it, but more logical for the South and other climates. They have a ton of good information on their site along with several videos. A guy named Bruce Davis was involved in their research for years, he is a professor at Appalachian State University. As for Dr Joe's unique teaching techniques, he kind of reminds me of a sailor with a PhD teaching trying to teach a class. IMHO, it would be 10X's better if he cleaned up his language.
