Brandon Whitmore Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Does the frost pattern on this heat pumps condenser coil fins look a little strange? Click to Enlarge 4.19 KB
Bain Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 That's pretty normal for a heat pump before defrost mode kicks in. Typically, if there's an air flow or refrigerant problem, the entire condenser frosts over. To protect myself, however, if I see frost on a condenser of a house I'm checking out, I peek back every 1/2 hour or so to make certain the condenser defrosted like it's supposed to.
Brandon Whitmore Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 John, I don't often see heat pumps frosted up in this area. The pattern just looked a little odd to me, so I figured why not ask? I appreciate the quick response.
