Jim Katen Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 How often do you guys recommmend that your clients apply the silver UV sealant/protectant on a flat roof? As soon as it wears off or starts peeling. The period between coats will vary dramatically with the amount of UV exposure that the roof gets. - Jim in Oregon
blazenut Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 Is the typical life expectancy around 5-10 years?
Bill Kibbel Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Is the typical life expectancy around 5-10 years? 3-5 in our area, unless the roof is heavily shaded.
msteger Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Do you recommend re-applying it when you see alligatoring?
caryseidner Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Matthew, If you are see alligatoring it probably the asphalt below the UV coating, and not the coating itself. Thus no need to re-apply.
kurt Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Alligatoring isn't necessarily bad. It just means they put too much tar in that spot.
