I found this yesterday during a 1 year warranty inspection. Home was about 10 months old. The metal hangers were reacting with the copper and had started to corrode and leak. I stopped counting the number of spots in the crawl after 15.

Had these throughout the crawl in a 1980s home. All in similar condition. Nothing actively leaking, but I recommended a plumber remove them, clean and check all pipes, and replace them with appropriate hangers. Oh, and also add insulation.

Those were easy to spot. Do all hangers or clips get checked when the piping is buried in the underfloor insulation? No.

Well, this one did not leak until by back hit the pipe and it moved the hanger. Failed under testing [:-magnify
