Were expecting 3-4" over the next 24 hours. My kids Boy Scout meeting has been canx for tonight and I expect their school to be canx tomorrow. A few daze ago I was in Orlando and they were completly freaking out because the temp was expected to drop to 27. We have no idea what a real hard winter is.

Sorry you had to go through all that, may advice is move south.

All that hassle but for some WR Grace.

I've been helping some friends deal with ice dam issues in Michigan lately. They're in a major lake effect dump pattern, and they just keep getting hit. When it's bad, it's really bad.

How important all those silly roof details we are always fussing about is shown up pretty well here.

I feel their pain. I live in one of those LE dumps and we're supposed to get another 4 to 8 tonight. Then tomorrow night we get Mark's storm. So far,we're well over 100" and there's an area about 25 miles from here that had 232" as of last week. It's only January. Global warming my ass

The salt idea works great in providing channels of drainage. I speak from personal experience on this one.

Everybody uses it, i filled nylons with a ice melt with sodium chrloride  (ROCK SALT) in it to melt a channel , i hope the salt does not damage the roof, does any body know about that, wanted to use calcium chloride but nobody around had any left
