JEuriech Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 I inspected a 1997 house yesterday that had a metal truss system in the attic. Is there a name for this system and is there anything special that I should be looking for? Thanks Jeff Euriech Peoria Arizona Image Insert: 186.7 KB
hausdok Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hi, Don't know; but I'm curious, was the rest of the house steel framed as well? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
JEuriech Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 Mike Yes, it was. Steel frame with a one coat stucco. Here is a picture looking down into the inside wall from the attic. Image Insert: 180.18 KB Jeff
hausdok Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hi, Thought so; I once drove down to Texas from Ft. Carson, CO in order to check out a steel-frame building company before I decided on this gig. The guy trying to get me interested in being one of their builders had projected that by 2005 20% of all homes built in the U.S. would be steel-framed. Guess I'm glad I didn't take the bait. Check this out, it's the Builder's Guide to Steel-Framed Construction. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
hausdok Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hi Again, Go here; it's a five part design and inspection guide presentation for muni inspectors on the Steel Framing Alliance's website. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
JEuriech Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 Mike, Great information! Thanks. Jeff
