Chad Fabry Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 "...Just after 1:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, an incredibly powerful explosion shook the 1300 block of St. John Street, leveling this two story home ..." Cause unknown... link title changed to be politically correct
Jeremy Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 www.observertoday.com/page/content.deta ... l?nav=5093 Here is what was left of a home that exloded in Bemus Point this past summer. Natural gas.
Inspectorjoe Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 I was about a half mile away from that when it happened. I was sitting in my van recovering from a too-long visit to a Chinese buffet. It was loud, even at that distance. "What the heck was that" was my thought. I didn't find out til this morning when I saw it on the news during breakfast. Those two guys had to be the luckiest people on Earth yesterday. The only thing left of that house appeared to be the floor joists. Amazing.
Bain Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 You gotta have a little sympathy for the neighbor, too. I can't see his house terribly well from the photo, but it looks like it got trashed. Imagine standing on the sidewalk, watching the firefighters, and thinking, "Yeah, this is about right . . . "

Inspectorjoe Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 It took over a month, but ...... Gas Leak Determined as Cause of Allentown Home Explosion
Jeremy Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Amazing!! You wouldn't think that would be survivable. Just imagine the concusion inside. Wow!
Terence McCann Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Got to be a typo right? The Red Cross is assisting 17 people who live in the homes on either side of the imploded home. No word on when those residents will be able to return home. A CRT, when hit, implodes.
