u302138 Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 I am experiencing window failures occuring in the corners. This is allowing water to enter into the living spaces. The stucco is flashed against the windows. I would think that there should be space between the stucco and the window since they expand and contract and different rates. Would anyone know the proper prep around vinyl windows using Penn Crete Stucco?
hausdok Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Hi, Yes, there should be a space between the window casing and the termination/accessory bead around the window and that space should be filled with foam backer rod and then tooled on the surface with butyl sealant. There should also be a head flashing above the window. Go here to find an expert with the Stucco Manufacturer's Association that can help. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
