Brad Manor Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 I have decided to keep a fan in my truck - I'll tell folks it's a wind simulator. -Brad
hausdok Posted October 26, 2008 Author Report Posted October 26, 2008 Hi, I seem to recall that someone in the business - I think it was Mike Casey - had a business on the side doing building diagnostics and had built a rain simulator to test windows for leaks. It was basically a rectangular PVC frame that had a bunch of holes drilled in it and a hose attachment; one assembled it and then stood it in front of a window, hooked up the hose and turned it on. It sprayed water directly onto the house around the windows. Does anyone else besides me remember reading that or are my meds contaminated again? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike
Inspectorjoe Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 I remember that device too, and I think it was Michael Casey. It was a long time ago .... maybe on the old ASHI board? Anyway, that was a long time ago. Technology has evolved a bit. Here's the latest version. The Medusa
fqp25 Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 3000 Horse power. That thing looks like something from a tractor pull. Frank
hausdok Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 Here's more of the same. His "press release" says it's a system that all home inspectors can easily duplicate. Gee, it sure is nice of him to volunteer the rest of us to do that, isn't it? OT - OF!!! M.
midwestpro Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Wow that thing is crazy. That is great to see someone making an effort to test products and homes for an environmental problem that hits thousands of homes every year. Do you guys think that will be the next thing after we can all afford IR cams? j/k
Richard Stanley Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 The "spray racks" were / are used to find defects in eifs, also.
Mark P Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 It’s a marketing gimmick that probably makes him money. Like the pest control company in FL that has a giant termite or ant on top of all it vans. Or the KISS drum set that looked like a tank and shot flames out over the audience. Don’t get me wrong I think it is silly and would never do it, but you’ve got to give the guy credit for clever marketing.
