sepefrio Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 I just did a 1932 house and there were some rather odd and old things in there. Take a look at a few. BTW this house is an estate closing. I don't think anyone has actually lived in the house for years, or they were a recluse. Image Insert: 268.8 KB The caster oil had a date of 1948 on it. Image Insert: 153.88 KB Image Insert: 143.75 KB Image Insert: 153.29 KB Image Insert: 161.08 KB Image Insert: 156.41 KB Image Insert: 157.38 KB I forgot to take a picture of the vacuum. It too had to be at least 50 years old. The house does need some plumbing and electrical work, but the structure is solid. Whoever built went way over board. The roof trusses for example are (yes I measured them) 3 by 6. 12in on center. Not 2.5 or 3.5 but actually measured at 3in. All flashing was in copper, an it had turned that cool color of green. The only, IMHO, bad part about the house. Some cheap painter painted EVERYTHING white. I think he must have put 8 coats on too. Almost every window is painted shut.
Jim Katen Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 None of that stuff is really odd. It's just old. The four pin phone jack used to be standard. I remember them from when I was a kid. The boiler is a beauty and I see that it has an updated burner on it. Probably works fine. So, is that a '54 Ford? It looks like the original paint. All it's missing is the fat whitewalls. - Jim Katen, Oregon
