blr Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Trying to determine type of pvc to use for venting AO Smith power vent water heater. One plumber says it requires solid core pvc-can't use foam core. (he can't find code though) Manufacturers manual doesn't specify-supplier says just schedule 40. [:-banghead]
blr Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 The engineer at the company that manufactures the water heaters says the foam core and solid core are both rated the same; it shouldn't matter which one is used.
crusty Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 The IRC defers completely to the manufacturer's specifications, I would guess, based on the fact that the appliances are listed and tested.
