Tim H Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 This is Hardie plank horizontally joined to a Hardie band board. My thinking is that this joint detail should be treated the same as a Hardie Panel installation (z-flashing, capillary break). I could not find a reference to this exact type of installation, so I am looking for confirmation or correction. Thanks, Tim Image Insert: 39.43 KB
Brandon Whitmore Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I agree. Dissimilar siding materials are required to be flashed or overlapped. Also, trim protrusions are required to be flashed (is that a protrusion?) Also, contact Hardie's tech support.......there is no way they will tell you that is OK.
Bill Kibbel Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I've put this in reports, more than once: It's from JH's install instructions. I interpret it to mean ANY horizontal trim.
