Hardie installation question

This is Hardie plank horizontally joined to a Hardie band board. My thinking is that this joint detail should be treated the same as a Hardie Panel installation (z-flashing, capillary break). I could not find a reference to this exact type of installation, so I am looking for confirmation or correction.

I agree. Dissimilar siding materials are required to be flashed or overlapped. Also, trim protrusions are required to be flashed (is that a protrusion?)

Also, contact Hardie's tech support.......there is no way they will tell you that is OK.

I've put this in reports, more than once:

It's from JH's install instructions. I interpret it to mean ANY horizontal trim.
