sepefrio Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 I was just wondering if 100's of crickets in a crawlspace was a sign of something else. A few of the crawlspaces I've been in around here have crickets all over the place. In fact when I see them, it's either 100's or none. So, if you open a crawlspace cover, peeked in and saw crickets all over the place, does that set an alarm off to look for X? Thanks.
Bill Kibbel Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 Probably cave crickets (camel crickets). They like crawls that feel like caves - cold, dark and damp.
Bain Posted July 26, 2008 Report Posted July 26, 2008 Yes, and sometimes when the cave crickets jump behind me and make a certain popping sound because they've taken off from, or landed on, an upraised section of vapor barrier, my head whips around out of fear there's something larger and nastier in the vicinity.
