fqp25 Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 First of all what is the correct term for this "sleeve"? Could it be from original heat source? There is a mid-efficiency furnace there now, and B-Vent runs up through this. I think it is cement base, it couldn't be gypsum, or could it? And I know they use to add asbestos to cement products especially for industrial applications. Frank Image Insert: 119.15 KB Image Insert: 79.2 KB
kurt Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 It's transite. It contains asbestos. Most likely the original vent. It's actually pretty good stuff, except for the A-word.
Scottpat Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 I agree with Kurt. It is good stuff and will last forever. It looks like it is good shape but you need to let your folks know what it is or has in it.
caryseidner Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Kurt, Scott & Jim are right. It's a leaker too because the pipe doesn't have any flashing on it either.

Whoa! The balck roofing sealant in a tube won't stop a leak?! C'mon, the roofer said it was good stuff.[:-slaphap Tom
