Chad Fabry Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Are steel fittings a positive identifier of LFMC or will they fit LFNC? The reason I ask is this stuff looks like LFNC but has steel fittings? Image Insert: 39.7 KB
Bill Kibbel Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 I think it's LFM conduit with the smooth PVC covering.
Speedy Petey Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Looks like LFMC to me. The NM stuff is pretty obvious looking IMO.
Brian G Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Last I knew the fittings would go on either one, no problem. I'd bet money that's LFMC though, just by the look of it. The easiest way to tell is to squeeze it or press on it. LFMC won't give a bit; LFNC will. Brian G. Com'on Honey, Squeeze My Flex []
Chad Fabry Posted June 12, 2008 Author Report Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks guys. I normally don't forget to look for identifiers or to squeeze and jostle. I got a little rattled on this one though; my camera died after that photo (smoke leaked out) and I was fretting about that and thinking I was working for free. Luckily, this PV inspection was in a scenic area and my wife was along for the ride and she had her camera, but I picked up the photo record at the next step in the process. For those interested, 690.31 (E) allows the PV DC conductors to be run inside a building before the inverter if they're contained in a metallic raceway. Here are photos of the array and the inverters: Image Insert: 53.89 KB Image Insert: 81.27 KB
