jodil Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I just want reassurance from all you smarties that my thinking is right... The below pic shows the SEC coming in to the left fuse block. The left is usually the main right? Ok, then the smaller wires tapped off of that go to a separate 30 amp fuse box for the AC, and the larger ones tapped off there were untraceable.... Image Insert: 79.95 KB So, am I right? Triple tapped off main?

Yes, you're right. The main lugs shouldn't be tapped like that. It's an indication that the fusebox is too small. I'd recommend replacing the whole mess and consolidating the various panels into one new one. - Jim Katen, Oregon
jon_ran Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 You can ALWAYS differentiate the main by determining where the SEC is attached. The wires coming off of the tap with the main do not have any protection. This is a fire hazard that must be recommended for repair. Upgrading the panel would be a good option.
