kurt Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 The Chicago cops shot and killed a 5 foot long cougar in Roscoe Village, an reasonably affluent inner city neighborhood. When the cops finally cornered it in an alley, it turned on the cops and attacked. They had to shoot it, unfortuneately. There's no indication it was an escaped pet. There've been several sightings over the last couple months, but no one believed it.
carle3 Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 We had sightings in Wilmont and south central Wisconsin. they actually cast some foot prints to verify if it was a big cat or not. I wonder if this was the same animal working its way south.
fqp25 Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Kurt, When I was up there, (a few years ago now) there was talk about big cats up and down the Des Plaines River. Do you think this Cougar could have slipped in via the North Branch somehow? Frank
Jim Morrison Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 I haven't seen one personally, but it's generally accepted that they've been in MA for about 10 years or so. An amazing story of survival.
