Chad Fabry Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 A baseboard receptacle strip in a mid 50's home. It's up to the user to keep the loads balanced by alternating the way they plug stuff in. Image Insert: 336.32 KB Image Insert: 342.76 KB
Kyle Kubs Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Hey Chad, Interesting receptacles. Looks like an older wire mould. but doesn't seem appropriate to 1950's... (I don't have a ton of experience with these) Are you saying that using a tester with the probes on the two outside slots would give you 220v? Were you able to see the feed side of this circuit in the basement or elsewhere? Just wondering if it was a cable assembly or separated conductors.

Ok, I guess I should have elaborated. Any pictures of the uncovered sections in the basement?
Chad Fabry Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 Hi Kyle, The wiring is all run through emt. The fellow who built the house was an electrician so the system is a rather eclectic mix of job-site leftovers. There's nothing terribly wrong with what he did but he employed a lot of panels, wire and toggle switches in odd locations to get to the Rube Goldberg assemblage that currently serves the home.
