Jim Katen Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 The question really should be, "Are the water pipes safe?" - Jim Katen, Oregon
ghentjr Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Right on! The bottom pipe already is showing signs of voltage leak with the pinpoint corrosion.
Jim Katen Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 What I mean is that the connection between the panel and the water pipe isn't there for the benefit of the panel. The safety associated with the grounding of the panel comes from the service neutral. The reason that we make a bonding connection to the metal water pipes is to prevent the pipes from developing a voltage potential. - Jim Katen, Oregon
Bob White Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 Mine used solid conductor.... Image Insert: 129.21 KB but I think your's made better contact with the pipe....
Sodapop Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 None of the posted pictures meet NEC 2008 250.70 as one of the approved methods. Add a $3.00 water pipe clamp and make it compliant.
