Jerry Simon Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Anyone know the age of a Trane Model #TUD120C954J1 furnace? It has an ANSI standard of 1993, and the serial number (forgot to write down) suggests it was made in 1995. Reason I ask is I saw this in a two-year-old, new-construction model house. Looked fishy. Thanks for any help.
hausdok Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Sorry Jerry, Can't do it without the serial number. Trane can though - they should know when that particular model and series came out even without the serial number. OT - OF!!! M.
Phillip Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 Hi Jerry, I can't help with the date but I know it can happen. Two year ago I did an new construction home and the exterior unit of the heat pump was 5 years old. I talked to the supply house that it came from and found out that their main office had found some units in their warehouse that had been over looked and they where giving a full warranty with the unit and paper work that told what had happen. Also about 4 years ago I did an house that they where saying was 4 years old. 3 AC units and 3 water heaters. One AC and 1 water heater was 18 years old. What had happen is the house had got blown down 4 year before and they had removed everything but the slab and rebuilt the house and reused one AC and one water heater.
hausdok Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 It could also be that the owner liked the water heater's efficiency and capacity but didn't like the one at a new home he or she has purchased and swapped them out. OT - OF!!! M.
