What is this?

This is located on a water line going to the humidifier a the furnace and its leaking. I dont want to call it a "thingy" in my report so I am hoping for a better term.

It's a solenoid valve (thingy).

The correct term is gizmo.

These humidifier solenoids are usually wired to the blower control. When the blower comes on to circulate air through the house, the solenoid opens the line and lets water flow to the humidifier. When the blower shuts down, the "gizmo" cuts the water off.
